Minyan Registration

Please read the guidelines and complete the registration below in order to attend minyan.
Submit one registration form per person.

Guidelines:
Under these unusual circumstances, we are eager to reestablish minyan in our community. However, we must do so with a mindset of the priority Judaism places on the sanctity of life and the utmost importance of its preservation. To that end, we are able to resume minyan, in a limited fashion, in accordance with the guidelines below.

These guidelines are meant to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19, and if spread, to reduce the risk of serious illness or death. These guidelines have been developed in consultation with medical and rabbinic experts. Please read all the guidelines below before registering.

May our collective patience and cooperation earn us the merit of health and a speedy return to the beauty of the rhythm of normal Jewish life.

I.  Attendees
  • Only those that have registered for minyan (and thereby agree to play by the rules) in advance may attend minyan. Once registered, we are relying on you to form the minyan.
  • One may not attend if he or she:
    • is experiencing any symptoms of illness, related to COVID-19 or otherwise (including a fever greater than 100.4 F, cough, shortness of breath, headache, body aches, nausea/vomiting, or loss of smell or taste), or
    • had contact with or were exposed to someone with COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  • Attendees must be above the age of bar/bat mitzvah.
  • Person over the age of 65, who are immunocompromised, or in a higher risk category (e.g. hypertension, diabetes) should exercise great caution before choosing to join a public gathering, including minyan. The experts consistently maintain that such persons are at higher risk of death should they contract COVID-19, and our rabbis insist on the Jewish interest in preserving life taking religious priority over joining minyan.
II.  Attendance
  • Maximum of 35 people may register for a minyan. If a minyan fills up, we will plan to schedule a second minyan.
  • Attendees must use the bathroom prior to coming to shul, and plan to not use the restroom at shul.
  • Washing hands prior to davening should be done at home.
  • Attendees should bring personal siddurim, chumashim, talesim, and tefillin.
  • Attendees must wear a face mask (please bring your own!).
  • Attendees must maintain a physical distance of 8 feet from others.
  • After minyan, attendees must leave immediately (no socializing).
III.  Location and Access
  • All minyanim will be held in the main sanctuary.
  • Entrance is through the handicap entrance on Patterson Ave., and exit is through the Pepper Ave. door.
  • The door will be open for the duration of times specified below to enable a 'touchless' entry.
  • Rows will be marked to designate seating. Members of the same household may sit together.
  • Please be respectful of the person who may be facilitating minyan at the door.
  • Please adhere to posted signage and guidance given by the ritual committee.
  • The Torah will be handled only by the Ba'al Koreh, and the Ba'al Koreh will receive all aliyahs.
IV.  Timing and Davening
  • We will begin our reopening with Shacharit three days a week, on Monday, Thursday and Shabbat (the Torah reading days).
  • Davening will be conducted so as to minimize time spent sharing airspace, including reduced singing, speeches, and liturgy which may technically be skipped or recited at home. 
  • Mondays and Thursdays
    • Doors open from 7 AM - 7:20 AM
    • Davening begins with Baruch She'amar at 7:15 AM
  • Shabbat
    • Doors open from 8:55 AM - 9:20 AM
    • Davening begins with Shochen Ad at 9:15 AM
  • If fewer than 10 people eligible to form a minyan register for a particular time, that minyan will be cancelled.
V.  In the Event an Attendee Test Positive for COVID-19
  • All upcoming minyanim will stop until further notice.
  • The ritual committee will ensure all those in attendance are notified.
  • The shul president will, as appropriate, notify public health officials.
